The White House Can’t Silence Us
"We won’t be intimidated by fear mongering and propaganda.
If you haven’t seen, the White House has chosen to display mugshots of primarily Latino men outside on the White House lawn in an effort to justify the unlawful deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Whether these men have been convicted of crimes or not, the fact remains: the Trump administration is carefully crafting a narrative that Latinos are criminals who should be deported — without due process, without regard for the Constitution — even if they are legal residents or, in some cases, U.S. citizens.
I pointed this out in a TikTok video, highlighting how deliberately the White House is working to make casually plugged-in Americans tune out and accept the deportation of innocent people. They are using unrelated criminal cases as justification — weaponizing fear and misinformation against an entire community.
Here’s how a large right-wing account on Twitter responded.
I am a proud Latina. A fourth-generation Texan, descended from ranchers who came from Guanajuato, Mexico. My family has lived in the United States for over 100 years. We are hardworking, law-abiding, legal citizens.
But even if I weren’t a citizen — even if I were here under Temporary Protected Status, or seeking asylum, or studying on a visa, or a DACA recipient who came here as a child — would my claim to America be any less valid? How is it right that young people who were raised here, who don’t speak another language, who are American in every way except for a piece of paper, are vilified and forced out of the only home they've ever known by the U.S. government? A government that, ironically, makes legal citizenship nearly impossible to attain unless you are wealthy, connected, or the child of an oligarch from a country like Russia.
Immigrants don’t deserve this.
Families like mine built this country — worked its soil, laid the concrete in your homes, and built the very foundations of the buildings where politicians now pass laws and sign executive orders declaring that we aren't welcome here.
Immigrants deserve better than this.
Latino people deserve better than this.
I will never apologize for being a proud, vocal defender of immigrants and the Constitution. And if poorly photoshopped, schoolyard-style social media posts are the best response they can muster — so be it. They don't scare me. In fact, it only proves that I’m on the right side of history.

I was telling my son, with all the terrible things Trump has unleashed this is the one that hurts me the most. The way he’s treating them is deplorable. Knocking out car windows. Kidnapping. Isolating them from their families and legal counsel. I do not care if they are legal, everyone has rights in the us. I’m so sorry
We know the cruel preschool playground bullies playbook of slinging vengeful insults are their norm. Shameful ignorant close minded mad hatters.
