Yes, my dad was very similar. He was super religious, but I was not. We still got along very well. When he passed away I placed his Dress Blues portrait on my left shoulder. 🥰

I will never say that Republicans/Conservatives are all bad folk. They sre not. In point of fact, I generally get along with conservatives more often than I do with other peoples. However, their politics have become absolute shit. They lie, create conspiracy theories, and do not seem to politically care for anyone unless they are directly co fronted with it or it directly hurts them personally. It has not always been this way. It wasn't until the conservatives of USA began to refer to all other and anything not themselves as "the enemy" and their willingness to make concessions and excuses for their leaderships bad behavior is apalling. Even my own father falls into this category. I love him, but henis sincerely screwed up, riddled with hypocrisy, and putting faith into a system that is very obviously corrupt as all get out. We have been at odds ever since Trump in 2016.

I really feel that a lot of our issues stems from the fact that personal beliefs are not recognized as beliefs and are, instead, viewed as fact. Until the conservatives of USA stop trying to force others to adhere to their own PERSONAL beliefs, there will never be peace. For this they have sold their soul and chose this hill to die on. How insecure and scared must one be to really look at Donald Trump and be like "Yeah. That guy is who I want to be president."

You and Senator Slotkin are beautiful powerful women. Are you ready to take to the streets for NO KINGS? I wrote a song for all peaceful protestors to sing: https://democracydefender2025.substack.com/p/no-kings-song-june-14

Hi. I think it couldn’t be clearer that she focuses on older Republicans when she speaks publicly and votes. She also praised Reagan even though here she tried to portray that she didn’t agree with him and shifted… she shifted… but still PRAISED him all these years later in her address. That says a lot about her ideals to me (amongst many other moves she’s made.) I do not think she is the right person to represent the majority of Michigan. Thanks for trying to give her a chance but she continues to disappoint me.

It is always interesting to hear how we are affected by our parents; and afterwards, the ongoing present effects that have come from that influence.

Yet, the real gift is the opportunity to not be a racist, even if your father was. To not be an alcoholic, even if your parents were. To not make the same mistakes that leave indelible marks in our memories, and can only be healed thru forgiveness.

Grew up with a dad like mine. That is definitely a pretty good place to grow up.

So thankful that my dad is a progressive Democrat, a union man, the Longshoremans union ILWU, so proud of him and everything that I have learned from him, which sparked a very intense interest in politics for me.
